One of the biggest tragedies when it comes to health and fitness is that far too many people end up throwing in the towel and giving up before they manage to accomplish their goals. There are many reasons for this. Some people end up losing motivation when they don’t see instant results, some people just end up busy with other priorities in life, and worst of all, some people quit because they just don’t see success being a possibility for them.

We have seen time and time again that one of the best ways to ensure you stick with your fitness program is by being able to work out from home. And one of the best ways to work out from home is with a home exercise bike.

Today we’ll be taking an in depth look at one of our favorite entry level home exercise bikes, the Marcy NS-716R Magnetic Resistance Recumbent Bike, in order to help you figure out if it’s the right piece of exercise equipment for you.

It can honestly seem overwhelming when you’re taking your first steps into the world of personal fitness. There are literally hundreds upon hundreds of options available to you.

Marcy has built a superb recumbent bike that’s incredibly appealing to fitness novices especially due to its simple design and outstanding affordability. Don’t let its entry level pricing fool you – this is one exercise bike that definitely deserves a second look.

Who is this exercise bike for?

Recumbent bikes like this one are ideal choices for anyone out there who is just getting started on their fitness journey. They allow users to gradually ramp up their cardio intensity while remaining extremely comfortable, even during lengthy exercise sessions. And unlike jogging on the pavement or treadmills, using a recumbent bike is a stress-free experience for your joints and back.

What’s included?

You’ll find everything you need to set up and use your NS-716R recumbent bike inside of the packaging it arrives in, with one exception – the bike requires two AA batteries to use, which you’ll have to purchase separately. Otherwise, inside the box you’ll be getting all of the necessary components to assemble the bike, along with assembly and usage instructions.

Overview of features

Weighing in at a rather lightweight 55 lbs. when fully assembled, the nice and compact NS-716R recumbent bike features measurements of 52 x 25 x 38 and can withstand a user weight capacity of up to 300 lbs. The bike’s compact design makes it incredibly convenient for home use, as it’s an absolute breeze to move out of the way when you’re finished your workouts thanks to the built-in transport wheels.

You’ll also be able to enjoy your cardio workouts in comfort thanks to a mold-injected seat that’s been expertly designed with ergonomics in mind. In addition, the magnetic bikes stride length can be adjusted to accommodate a wide variety of user sizes.

As an added touch designed to maximize your comfort when using the NS-716R, a convenient cup holder is smartly placed to help you keep hydrated without having to pause your cardio session. And finally, the bike’s handlebars are foam-covered to provide a comfortable grip that’s quite easy on the hands.

Eight pre-set tension adjustments allow you to customize how challenging your workout ends up being based upon your personal fitness level. Once you get going, a user-friendly 3.5” LCD display panel will provide you with all of the necessary information, including time, distance traveled, speed, and calories burned.

Getting the most out of your new exercise bike

It’s going to take more than just getting on your recumbent bike every day and going for a 30 minute cardio session to build the lean body you’ve been dreaming of. While doing cardio alone is better than doing nothing, you’re still going to need to keep an eye on what you’re eating as well if you’d like to see permanent results. There’s an old saying in fitness circles that says, “you can’t outrun a bad diet,” and it’s absolutely 100% true.

If you want to get the most out of your NS-716R, be sure to eat a well-balanced diet consisting of mostly real, whole foods.

The Marcy NS-716R Magnetic Resistance Recumbent Bike provides a ton of bang for your buck when it comes to value priced home exercise bikes. It’s definitely one of the best entry-level options out there.

However, if you’re more interested in something that’s just a bit higher in quality, then we would recommend going with another bike made by the same company, the Marcy NS-40502R Magnetic Resistance Recumbent Bike. It offers a few tweaks and improvements over the more basic NS-716R while remaining incredibly attractive from a pricing point.

An admittedly basic recumbent bike, that still doesn’t stop the Marcy NS-716R from being one of the best home exercise bikes in its class. A much appreciated lightweight, compact design meets an insanely affordable price to produce one of our favorite budget-friendly machines available in 2018.

So long as you’re alright with not getting all of the latest technological advancements as far as accessories go, you should be more than satisfied with the 3.5” LCD display built into the bike. After all, it still displays all of the same basic but necessary information as all of the higher end bikes do.

For anyone on a budget who wants to begin taking their health and fitness more seriously, the NS-716R is an incredibly easy bike to recommend.
